RhizoGUARD™ can act as biofertilizers and/or antagonists (biopesticides) or simultaneously as both.

The plant-growth-promoting activity of the Bacillus spp. used are linked to the suppression of soil-borne plant pathogens, occurring in the competing microflora.  Not only by the production of antimicrobial compounds, but also by stimulating plant-induced systemic resistance (ISR).  These pathogen–biocontrol interactions contribute to the combined suppressive effect.

The multiple strains of plant growth promoting rhizobacteria (PGPRs) in RhizoGUARDTM is a well-known approach to enhance the colonisation of the rhizosphere with beneficial microorganisms.  Plants form mutually beneficial associations with PGPRs, leading to crop productivity.

These Bacillus spp. in RhizoGUARDTM produce enzymes that degrade compounds in the soil contributing to the release of nutrients normally inaccessible to plants, inadvertently promoting plant growth.  The competitive interaction of these Bacillus spp. improves their plant growth promoting effectiveness.
